Writing at New Mexico State University - Carlsbad

Annotated Bibliography | Critique-Review | Glossary
Lab Report | Research Paper | Summary | Faculty

Writing doesn’t take place only in English classes. During your college career, you will learn to write different types of documents in all your general education classes. This is called Writing Across the Curriculum or WAC. Different disciplines require different types of writing and documentation. For example, in your history class, you might be asked to write a research paper; in your chemistry class, you will write lab reports, and in your sociology class, a review of an article in a sociology journal. A review is not the same as an essay or a lab report.

In this section, we have attempted to provide instruction about how to handle the most common types of writing assignments you will be required to do at NMSU-C. In addition, you will find definitions and other useful resources.

Use the navigation bar above to view pages relating to the most common types of writing assignments students will be asked to do at NMSU-C. There is also a faculty link that provides a rubric that both faculty and students will find useful.
