Transfer Scholarships
Application Information
Two types of scholarships are
available to students who are transferring to a 4-year university. Two students
will be awarded the Don & Sarrah Kidd
Scholarship. This scholarship is for students who plan to transfer
to NMSU* for the fall term to pursue a bachelor degree. It is
possible to retain this scholarship for up to four semesters at $1000 per term.
The RE Willis Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a student who plans to transfer to any 4-year university in
pursuit of a bachelor degree. It is valued at $1000 and payable at $500 per term
for one year.

- 3.2 Cumulative GPA
- 48 credit hours completed at NMSU-Carlsbad
- Must transfer to NMSU
- Las Cruces on a full-time basis
- Based upon potential to succeed and not upon need

- 30 credit hours completed at NMSU-Carlsbad
- Transfer to any four-year university
- Financial need a consideration
- Must complete the FAFSA form

How To Apply
Applicants need to
submit a letter of application stating their goals, academic background,
community and college community involvement, and where they plan to transfer.
There is no need to write two separate letters; students transferring to NMSU
will be considered for both scholarships. Students transferring to any other
university will only be considered for the RE Willis Memorial.
The letter of application must be submitted to the NMSU-C Financial Aid Office (Room 111) by 5:00 P.M. on
March 31.
*Admission to NMSU is
required for the Kidd and/or any NMSU scholarship. Students
must be enrolled in 12 NMSU credits (whether on location in Las Cruces or
through the distance education program).
