Satisfactory
Academic Progress
Students are
required to maintain satisfactory progress toward a degree. Progress is
monitored at least once per year, normally after the spring term. The exception
is for those students who are attending on appeal status; their progress is
monitored at the end of each semester. Below are the basic rules of satisfactory
academic progress:
QUALITATIVE MEASURES:
Grade Point Average (GPA) Requirements for Undergraduate
Students:
Undergraduates students must maintain a 2.0
cumulative GPA or greater to remain in good standing. Undergraduate
students that fall below a 2.0 cumulative GPA will receive an
unsatisfactory SAP code of U-GPA.
-
Undergraduate students with a 2.0-2.25
cumulative GPA will receive a conditional status C-GPA code to
serve as a conditional warning regarding the 2.0 GPA
requirement.
-
Undergraduate students that fall below a 2.0
cumulative GPA will receive an unsatisfactory GPA code (U-GPA).
Students with a U-GPA SAP code will be ineligible for financial
aid until C-GPA is a 2.0 or better or an appeal for financial
aid has been approved.
QUANTITATIVE MEASURES:
Completion
Rate Requirements:
All students, both undergraduate and graduate,
are required to pass and complete 2/3 (66.666%) of all classes attempted.
-
Students with a 2/3-74%
completion rate will receive a Conditional Status (C-COMP) SAP
code to serve as a conditional warning about the completion rate
requirement.
-
Unsatisfactory U-COMP SAP codes
will be assigned to students that fall below a 2/3 completion
rate. Students with a U-COMP code will be ineligible for
financial aid until the completion rate is 2/3 or greater or an
appeal for financial aid has been approved.
Time Frame Requirements for
Undergraduate Students:
Undergraduate students must attain their degree
on or before 150% of the published credits needed for an associate degree.
Second degree seeking students should visit the Financial Aid Office regarding
second degree requirements.
For a student seeking an Associate Degree –
For a student seeking a Certificate –
Students will
be notified in writing when their status has reached a Conditional Warning and Unsatisfactory status. Students placed on
Conditional Warning
status will have one semester in which to return to a satisfactory status before
losing financial aid. When a student reaches unsatisfactory status, no further financial aid will be disbursed.
Students who
believe they have extenuating circumstances which prevented them from meeting
these requirements may submit a letter of appeal.
Appeal form for students with GPA les than 2.0 and/or
failure to complete 2/3 attempted credit hours
Appeal
form for students who have reached 99 attempted credit hours
